When you attend school online, you don’t really have the personal interaction you may have had when attending a physical classroom. So to enhance the interaction, once in a while there will be a group project. So far, it has all been writing research papers that all of us have a part in. Well, I’ve had my fill of not being the leader.
I’m not trying to brag, but I do really well with written assignments. It seems to be my forte, if you will. The class I’m currently in has been a lot of work, but I like the subject which is Leadership. We have had to write several 1500 word papers in full APA format with a final of 2500 words. The group project we just finished was 2500 words but with four of us participating it didn’t seem too overwhelming. That is until the leader, which is not me, decided to correct my work.
The problem that developed was after I submitted the work to the group file after I corrected their citations. None of them had used any correctly. In addition to that, the leader had changed some of my writing as though I had used a direct quotation and it was not a direct quotation. I’m the only one that had used the correct format for it. The reason I know this, you ask? Because I have turned in four different papers for this same class that are my own writing; with my own citations; and I have had a perfect score on all of them.
At the time of this writing, I don’t know if they listened to what I explained. I’ll have to fill you in later on that. I have learned my lesson though. The next time I have to be involved with a group research paper, I will insist on having the last say.
