I Figured It Out

I have long been told by my mother that I am anti-social. Well at the grand old age of “almost 49”, I figured out she is wrong. Yes, you heard me. My mother has been wrong all my life.

One of my favorite things to do is take photos. I live for it. For the last several months, I have not had the time to do much of it and found myself taking the same old photos all the time. Since I’m unemployed right now my photo taking has been increasing in frequency. Isn’t that just great? I thought so.

So today I decided to take a drive through one of the parks I haven’t been to for some time. And what do you think I discovered? THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE HERE!!!

I want to get in a 4WD and putz through a place where I DON’T HAVE A CAR ON MY BUMPER!!! If you putz through a park like I do, you will have at least 3 or 4 cars on your bumper. I’m looking for a possible photo op and because there are so many people here and no other place to go, they are all SITTING ON MY BUMPER!!!

I like places that are sparsely populated. It really has nothing to do with being anti-social. I gladly spend time with, hang out with, and socialize with people who like the same things I do. The problem is that people who live here don’t like the same things.

They get caught up in the whole big town social atmosphere and forget there is another world out there. What I love about the off road experience is not the “solitude”. We used to take these drives with all the kids and with other people. We might have 2 or 3 vehicles at the same time. So it isn’t the need to be alone, it’s the need to be out somewhere with only a few. At least be a group that likes to do the same thing.

I don’t drink. The people my husband hangs around with do. Subsequently he does too. I have no desire to sit around in a garage or with a gazillion other people so I can partake of alcoholic beverages. It isn’t my thing. They talk about other people and things I have no interest in. But it’s all I see around me.

Right now I have no choices and that may be why it bothers me so much. I’m working on the situation but it will take time. In the meantime, I know I’m not anti-social. I just don’t like the same things that people around here do.

The view behind me.....

And the view in front of me.....

  1. you would love my town. ok, it's a city, but where we live mountains and tons of things you could take photos of. I know, I know, I'm always telling you crap like that. If I was not anti social (of which you can tell your mom I am) I would get out and do things. But man, once I'm home, that is where I want to stay.
