To Skype or Not to Skype

Do any of you Skype? My mother has discovered it thanks to my brother. Now she loves to spend time talking to her kids because she can see them. This is the same woman who has to have someone else set the time on her electronic equipment. Back when VCR’s were the rage, my brother had to set the time on it so she could record shows. And she still has dialup internet for crying out loud!

I find that Skype is annoying. I can’t get up and do anything whereas with my phone I can walk into the other room, refill my ice water, or grab something off my end table. I can have my Bluetooth in and freedom. Skype does not allow for that. Mom can’t hear me from the other room. So I’m sitting in one place. I’m trying to get used to it.

Now my grandmother says she won’t do it because she has to get dressed and do her hair. I tell her it doesn’t matter but she’s almost 91 and a bit set in her ways. She still emails me and sometimes IM’s so I tell her she has no excuse. And since she’s the last grandmother I have that is living, I also tell her it’s her duty to oblige me. Guess what. She doesn’t listen. Can you tell where I get my attitude? Yup! Right from her.

  1. I skype, but not with the the video. I can, but ick. Me and my friend in Illinois IM on skype all day long. But then, I have no life so that is probably why.

Love the new look of your page.

  2. Lol...I just had this conversation with my sister. I am the most anti-social person in our family. I don't like to be around people or talk on the phone. I love to text though. I have skype, but don't use it at all. I have an 8 month old, and the little bit of cuteness I FELT like I had before she came along, is now turned into a bun and baby food covered baggy t-shirts. I refuse to let anyone see me in this manner. It's just not fair to them lol.
