Hilary Is My Hero

Yes, you read correctly. And, yes, I am talking about Hilary Rodham Clinton. In an article on CNN.com, she states, “human rights are gay rights and gay rights are human rights”. This is exactly what I have been saying for years. All rights are human rights, not rights to be debated. For that, she makes my role model list. Of course, her other accomplishments are nothing to sneeze at either.

She is the ONLY former First Lady to go on to become a Senator. And she was the first female Senator from New York. But she didn’t stop there. She campaigned for the Presidency also and did much better than previous women who attempted the same feat. After all, she only came in second to President Obama at the convention. She didn’t stop there either. She is now the Secretary of State under our first African American president. I mean, she is an extremely accomplished woman.

How can she not be considered a serious role model? For the doubters, you have to admit she has done a lot for women in showing the possibilities. I have a feeling that Secretary of State will not be her last title before she retires.

  1. I honestly do think she rocks. Totally agree with you on the human = gay = human rights. But... does she have to scream in the mic so much? That's the ONLY thing playing against her...

We need good strong female role models like her, not the Caribou Barbie type of that "other" one. Kudos to you for claiming Hilary is a role model!
